blog.fifty-two // We’re doing something new.
As we’ve shared before, our mission is to Make the Internet Feel Smaller. More accessible, less omnipresent. We’re building a creative neighborhood—where the unique voice you bring to the Block Party holds more weight than the size of your house.
This mission has always been bigger than just us. That’s why we’re excited to announce that we’re opening up our next edition of Creator Mag to guest submissions.
The fine print:
Share your written piece (≤500 words, save for special exceptions) via the form here.
We’re open to all pitches, but our final selection will be curated.
Consider how your piece connects to our season-long theme, “WHERE DID YOU GO?”
Submissions are due by Saturday, May 10. Contributors whose pieces end up featured in the magazine will be compensated for their work. Plus: You’ll receive a complimentary print issue, as well as free tickets to our next Block Party (held on July 19 in Chicago).
I’ll talk about this process more in Sunday’s blog. In the meantime, scroll down for Shua’s conversation with the World’s Longest Resume Builder: Gabe DeSanti.

P.S. Last blog, we wrote on the flattening of culture and the mantra of sprint, sprint, rest. You can read it here.

Gabe DeSanti is a creator and street interviewer based in New York City. He’s performed jobs for everyone from a handmade guitar craftsperson to a pig roast vendor as he works to build the “World’s Longest Resume.”
The following conversation has been edited and condensed for clarity.
Shua Buhangin: All right, Gabe—what were your biggest wins of 2024?
Gabe DeSanti: Biggest win? I think, as a whole, it was my first year of being a full-time creator—just for myself.
So January 1st of 2024, I went for it. And I’m standing here, like, three hundred and sixty-five days later. I did it. And that's easily the biggest win of the year.

SB: What are some things you want to take into 2025?
GD: Budgeting. I definitely want to make budgeting a priority, and I think it was a big learning experience this past year.
As a creator, there's always going to be moments of, like, wow, there's money coming in. And then there's going to be moments of, you know, taking out a loan—maybe no money is coming in. And you're net negative for some months.
I think it's important to be a little more levelheaded throughout the year. Just making sure that you're setting yourself up for the future, because this is an unpredictable path.
SB: For sure.
GD: I just wish that I was a little more prepared for those lulls, and how long it might take to come out of that. Because there were months last year where I was like, Oh no…I don't know if I'm going to be able to continue doing this.
Thankfully we juuuusssst got through it, you know, by the skin of our teeth. But budgeting is something I really need to prioritize in 2025.
Keep up with Gabe’s journey here.
